Boston College: Eagles landing 4-Star CB Antonio Cotman Jr is a game changer

Jeff Hafley and his staff landed perhaps the biggest commitment yet in Hafley’s two year tenure at the Heights. Antonio Cotman Jr., a 6-2 190 pound cornerback out of Life Christian Academy in Colonial Heights, Virginia committed to the Eagles yesterday.

Cotman is the highest rated commit in this cycle. He held 21 total offers. Some of the other schools recruiting him were Arkansas, Duke, Ole Miss, Penn State, Florida State, South Carolina and Maryland. Cotman told Rivals.com that his relationship with the coaches, specifically Coach Hafley was the biggest reason he chose to come to Boston College.

Cotman came to Boston College on an official visit at the end of June. He loved the campus comparing it Hogwarts. Cotman is a self professed “big” Harry Potter fan. Cotman also said he loved the city and his relationship with Associate Head Coach and Defensive Backs Coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim sealed the deal for him.

When asked how he thinks the Eagles will use him, Cotman deferred to Jeff Hafley, his NFL experience and how he develops players.

At 6-2 190, Cotman can play corner or safety. He plays to his size, has elite ball skills and is fluid in his movements in coverage. He is today’s long corner who can play in a press, squat alignment or in off coverage.

Cotman is close with 2021 four star commit C.J Burton. Burton, a cornerback as well got on the field last season as a true freshmen. Cotman certainly has the skill and ability to do the same thing in the Fall of 2023.

Like Burton, landing Cotman is a game changer and it fortifies what will end up being the greatest recruiting class in school history.
