Boston College: Busy day at the Heights as the Eagles are back in business

It was a busy day at Boston College yesterday. First, we got the news that Notre Dame tight ends coach John McNulty was hired as the new offensive coordinator. McNulty has a balanced resume as he brings 15 years of NFL experience with him and 15 years of college experience to the Eagles staff.

McNulty was last an offensive coordinator at Rutgers from 2018 to 2019. He has coordinated at Rutgers twice in his career. He also coordinated at the school between 2007 and 2008.

McNulty’s resume certainly speaks for itself. He has coached a lot of football and he is a coach who fits what Jeff Hafley wanted in a coordinator. Someone who will run a multiple, pro-style offense and has experience developing talent to play at the next level.

We will get our first look at McNulty and the new Eagles offense on February 26th when the Eagles kickoff spring practices.

Last night was also the ACC Schedule Reveal show on the ACC Network. We got to see the Eagles complete 2022 schedule for the first time. Here are the dates and opponents.

Sept. 3 vs. Rutgers

Sept. 10 @ Virginia Tech

Sept. 17 vs. Maine

Sept. 24 @ FSU

Oct. 1 vs. Louisville

Oct. 8 vs. Clemson

Oct. 22 @ Wake

Oct. 29 @ UConn

Nov. 4 (Fri.) vs. Duke

Nov. 12 @ N.C. State

Nov. 19 @ Notre Dame

Nov. 26 vs. Syracuse

It is a tough and balanced schedule. We will get a pretty good idea of how good this team will be right out of the gate. They play Virginia Tech and Florida State within the first four weeks.

The middle stretch is tough too with Florida State, Clemson, Louisville and Wake Forest.

The back end of the schedule features a visit to UConn and a Friday night game against Duke but the signature game is the November 19th visit to South Bend to take on Notre Dame.

Interestingly enough, the schedule features five games against opponents who will have first year head coaches. That could benefit an Eagles team that has a lot of experience coming back.

As a side note. The Jay McGillis Alumni Spring Football Game will be held on Saturday April 9th at 11 am.

Finally, tomorrow is round two of National Signing Day. Don’t expect the Eagles to do much as they got most of their 2022 class signed in December.

Business is starting to pick up at Boston College and that is a beautiful thing for those of us who love football.
