High School: Previwing the top match ups for Week 7

The Century Game between North Attleboro and Attleboro is one of the top games of the final weekend of the Fall II season.

The Fall II season wraps up with some great games this weekend. Here are the top match ups I will be watching this weekend.

Attleboro at North Attleboro: It’s the 100th meeting or the Century Game as it’s being dubbed between Attleboro and North Attleboro.

The Red Rocketeers won the Davenport side of the Hockomock League thanks to the efforts of junior quarterback Tyler DeMattio and a tough defense.

Attleboro struggled on the Kelley Rex but were competitive despite being young. Senior running back, linebacker Michael Strachan Jr. leads the Blue Bombardiers into this rivalry game. The Rhode Island football commit has been one of the best players in the Hockomock League this Fall II season.

Don’t expect a shootout. Both teams like to run the football and they lean on their defenses. I think this will be a tight game but I must admit. If I were picking it, it’s hard to pick against DeMattio and the Red Rocketeers. They have been the better team this season.

Marshfield at Mansfield: The Hornets game against Foxboro was cancelled due to COVID-19 so Head Coach/Athletic Director Mike Redding scheduled Marshfield.

The young Rams are finally turning the corner back to contention under fourth year coach Chris Arouca. They are once again a factor in the Patriot League.

Marshfield is talented on offense but they haven’t seen a defense like Mansfield’s which has given up only 14 points all season long.

Mansfield has been dominant this season but they will have their hands full with a talented Marshfield team that’s on the rise.

Reading at Lincoln-Sudbury: If Mansfield, Marshfield is a Super Bowl Caliber match up, then Reading, Lincoln-Sudbury is a Super Bowl match up in Division Two.

LS has been dominant this season. The Warriors were tested by Acton-Boxboro two weeks ago but aside from that, they rolled through the Dual County League.

Jim Girard‘s team will be tested this week however when they face quarterback James Murphy and Reading’s high powered offense. It will truly be a contrast in styles.

If you believe that defense wins championships, then you’ll pick LS. If you prefer offense, then you’ll pick Reading. Either way, it’ll be a great game between two talented teams that are well coached.

Tewksbury at Central Catholic: The MVC is at stake when these long time rivals match up. Tewksbury is coming off a tough loss to St. John’s Prep. A loss that slowed their momentum.

Central on the other hand has rolled through the MVC and in their out of league games. They have done it with an explosive offense and a dominant defense.

Tewksbury throws a lot of different looks at you offensively so Central’s defense will be challenged. However they have speed on defense and they are well coached. Those type of teams are tough to outflank.

Despite Central’s talent advantage, I think this will be a good game. Brian Aylward and his staff do a great job at preparing their kids. Tewksbury will make this a game.
