Boston College Preview: Boston College Eagles (5-6) at Pittsburgh Panthers (7-4)

The Eagles face a must win situation at Pitt today. Boston College must win this game in order to become bowl eligible. It is also a must win for head coach Steve Addazio who is under a tremendous amount of scrutiny right now. After last week’s loss to Notre Dame, the Eagles have to show up and put it on the line for themselves and their coach.

Here are three keys for the Eagles.

1. Set the tone early on in the run game: Pitt has one of the top run defenses in the country. It will be tough sledding for the Eagles inside. Despite that, the Eagles are a run first offense. They will run the ball but look for more misdirection and spread run plays.

2. Let Grosel rip it! Offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian has to let Dennis Grosel throw the ball more today. The Eagles need to be more balanced and push the ball down the field. Boston College has to attack in the passing game and running game today.

3. Defense must rise to the occasion: In order for the Eagles to win this game, the defense must play well and rise to the occasion. They cannot give up big plays and they must find a way to generate turnovers.

Final score: Boston College 20 Pitt 17: I think the Eagles will find a way to get it a win and become bowl eligible. This is a proud group of kids. The seniors especially don’t want to go with a losing record and they want to play in a bowl game. Eagles prevail in a tight game.
