Boston College: Boston College Eagles (2-1) at Rutgers Scarlet Knights (1-2)

The Eagles are coming off of one of the worst losses in the Steve Addazio era, a 48-24 loss to a Kansas team they should have beaten. The Eagles have an opportunity to redeem themselves this week against a Rutgers program that is improved but is still rebuilding.

Here are three keys to this game.

1. Move on from last week: Last week’s loss was inexcusable. Plain and simple. All of the flaws on both sides of the ball were exposed. Despite that, it is time to move on from that game. Nothing came change the outcome. Turning things around requires looking to the future, not reliving the past.

2. Stop the run: The defense was shredded last week, particularly on the ground. That could be a problem against a Rutgers team that has two good backs in Raheem Blackshear and Isaih Pacheco and can run the football effectively. The Eagles front seven must do a good job of controlling the line of scrimmage and they must limit Blackshear and Pacheco’s ability to find cut back lanes.

3. Make big plays again: The Eagles didn’t make enough big plays last week. They need to get Kobay White and Zay Flowers more touches. They can just rely on tempo and wearing a defense down in order to make big plays.

Final Score: Boston College 35 Rutgers 17: The Eagles will bounce back and get a much needed win. With a big ACC game next week at home against Wake Forest, they cannot look ahead. B.C must take care of business this week and get back on track.
